In the coming three years, the following three areas of activity embody the EID’s mission.

2. Contributing to and promoting trans-border cooperation with the EU’s Neighbouring regions and advocating unimpeded liberty of movement for individuals pan-European setting;

"The Agora Project" 2004-2006 is an Internet-project for promoting transnational dialogue and exchange among young persons within the framework of END. Using the internet as the most dynamic medium of exchange, it provides an opportunity for open minds across a broad range of states, regions and ethnicities to communicate directly with one another.

In 2003 the EID introduced the "Salon Européen" serving to periodically gather in its midst a selection of international policy and decision makers for high-level discussions on topics of acute actuality on the basis of exclusivity and confidentiality, and the "Club Européen", which serves to provide a "jour fixe" to young, qualified and gifted individuals from diplomacy, the arts, politics, the industry and the financial world to intermingle freely and exchange and develop their opinions.

In spring 2001, the EID launched the "European Network for Democracy" (END) project on www.europe.or.at , an interactive Internet database serving to gather data on as wide as possible range of Non Governmental Organisations in the post-communist countries of Europe. In this, Europe is defined extensively rather than conservatively: For instance, regions such as Sakha that lie beyond the Ural and therefore beyond Europe's eastern geographic border are given consideration, based on their being European (i.e. Russian) by culture. This also demonstrates the project's regional rather than nation-state orientation.

In the year 2000 the EID organised a conference in cooperation with the Hanns Seidel Foundation on "The Role of Student Bodies in Open Society" in Szeged, Hungary. This effort was primarily aimed at offering direct moral and material support to the different student organisations and individuals involved in "OTPOR", whilst secondarily bringing together Central European student bodies and media, encouraging and engendering a mutual exchange of experiences and know-how as well as furthering communication networks in these fields.
